OK, here we go again. Let’s chat about the new Christmas movie, Christmas Joy. It’s about a cite girl named, Joy. She comes home to help take care of her aunt and ends up getting roped into all of the hometown Christmas festivities. AND she reconnects with a guy she used to know, Ben Andrews. Conveniently, Ben’s Mom and Joy’s aunt are very good friends. Overall, I liked the storyline, and I liked both of the main actors.
As we all know, the ending of most Hallmark movies revolves around some sort of disagreement, some more believable then others. SPOILER ALERT: When Ben left the party in DC, I thought it was because he overheard something Joy had said, but instead he left because he could not see himself in that world. It was nice to not have a big predictable argument between the two main actors.
Now, if I could take out one part of the movie, it would be when Ben’s Mom pulled him aside during his “outing” with Joy, just to quiz him down if he was on a date with her. I would hope that most mothers would wait until later to have that conversation with their son.
Of course, we had some cheesy moments and some, but I think that’s why we all like these Hallmark movies. I thought the dialogue between Ben and Joy was really well done, actually.
All in all, it wasn’t bad at all. I’ll probably be giving it a 6.7 out of 10.
